Logik DV-BD1000 Blu-ray player – Cheap, Ugly and Confused. Not the most stylish of Players available on the market, but at £129 I doubt you’ll find much else. Reading the Review raises a smile; it touts

5 times the picture quality of standard definition, providing you with pictures that are sharp and crystal clear.

But then alas we have the ultimate sin of High Definition confusion from who ever wrote the description,

The connections for the DV-BD1000 Blu Ray Player are a treat and using the scart connection you can link to other devices such as a TV, DVD player or games console to enhance your home entertainment.

Scart? Scart? Huh? How the hell are the general public ever going to understand Hi Def TV and Film when they’re confused at point of purchase by the retailer?

The blurb says the Firmware is upgradable, hope its via Ethernet and they’ve programed the site address into the Beast, as I cant find a website for Logik.

This utility updates the BDP-S300 firmware to version 4.40, and provides the following benefits:

Improvements over firmware version 4.30

- Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.

Additional improvements over original firmware

– Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs.
- Compatibility with the newly released BD-R/RE format (BDMV).
- Compatibility with BD-R/RE disc burned by “Click to Disc Ver.1.1” and “Click to Disc Editor Ver.1.1” software. ( The update of these software is required)

– This utility is only for use with the BDP-S300 as sold within Europe. Not all models are sold in all countries.
- Please follow the update instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the update process and may cause the player to be unresponsive or to require repair.
